On Tuesday, 25-Apr, The Super Sonic Sparks’ three Vex IQ teams wrapped up their 2016-2017 season at the Vex IQ World Championship in Louisville, KY. More than 300 middle school teams and nearly 300 elementary school teams from around the world competed at the three day event.
When the dust settled on the competition, the middle school girls of Team 24M had posted the highest driver skills+programming skills of all three of our teams. They finished in 47th overall with a total score of 111 – 3 points higher than their previous best.
Our elementary school team (24P) finished in a three way tie for 2nd place in their division with a score that was 10th best in the world. Per the tie-breaker rules, they were officially awarded 4th place. They were recognized by the judges as the team in their division with the best overall code and coding practices with the “Think Award”.
Team 24K, comprised of middle school boys, placed in the top 20 overall and were awarded the “Create Award” in their division. This award recognizes the team that has the most creative engineering solution to the game’s challenges.
A special thanks to all the parents, family and friends who helped make this trip possible and offered such enthusiastic support for our kids!
We’ll be posting more pics and vids in the very near future.
